TRIFT STORE FINDS

Late Saturday afternoon my daughter and I took a trip to one of our favorite places....The Thrift Store. When we first got there she said, "Mom, I love it when we aren't rushed and have time to look." I always go to the dishes and wooden items first. (I'm still looking for glasses with cherries). I spotted the bread box and put it in my shopping cart and then took it out. It cost $6.88 (where do they get these odd numbers?) I knew I wouldn't use it for a bread box but with a little (it didn't take much) encouragement from Amy, I decided it had to come home with me. It will be painted (black, of course) and I will use it to put my phone books in. Right now they are taking up one of my kitchen drawers but they fit perfectly inside. The other wooden item is an oval tray. It's scratched up pretty bad, but it'll be painted also. Amy suggested that I use it on my bathroom counter (between the two sinks). I'm trying to decide what color it should be...if I do use it there.
Here are the two treasures again. Look at the space inside that bread box and see the little legs on the bottom of the tray.....I loved that part. Yes, the tray only cost $1.48. The spray paint will come out this week and I'll share the make-over.

You found some great deals and I think that will be a wonderful use of the breadbox!

Hehehe you know I got that GREAT bargain on the glasses with the cherries.....(the red tray, glasses and the matching decanter all for $1.00) I can only hope that you can get a deal like that when you DO find the cherry glasses!!!

Are you looking for old cherry glasses? Or a specific kind? I have a whole set with nowhere to store them! Tall ones and juice glasses... very cute :).

Hi Sue!

thanks for visiting my blog, and for the nice comments. Nice items you got from the thrift shop. We have a thrift store here in central NJ called Unique, and they mark the items with wierd prices too, like $1.41. On Mondays you receive 25% off. I love thrifting too! Take care!

Sue these are both great finds--I just love thrifting. You sure can't beat the prices. What a great way to use the bread box too. It will be fun to see the makeover that you do.

Haha Mrs. Sue, you're so cute! But we're NOT pregnant. Nor are we trying. But you'll be one of the first to know when we are :-) When I told my mom the fainting story that was the first thing she asked because she was pregnant the only time she ever fainted. So you weren't alone in your theory!

love that bread box. i have been on the lookout for one for some time but we have great goodwill here and i'll find one someday. cherry glasses, huh? well, that will be stuck in my head for a long time. i know i saw a great set of a round pitcher with tomatoes on it and 6 little swigs but they wanted $40 for the set and I am way too cheap to go that high. i have thought of it repeatedly since though.
now i know you are a thrift shopper, i will follow you and see where you go! LOL

I can't believe the great deals you got...I never see anything around here with those kind of prices..not even at the dollar store! lol lol I would love to find some glasses with cherries on them also..I have one set but I would love some vintage ones...I got all my tins years ago when i use to collect them back in the 80's and early 90's...use to find them in the grocery stores and Wal-mart around the holidays...I also have two more crackerjack ones but they don't look as vintage to me! lol Thanks for coming by girl...Hope you are having a great week..oh by the way...Happy Belated Anniversary to you in case I forgot to tell you and that chocolate cobbler looks fantastic!
