MY SURPRISE

Look what I found on my sun porch when I got home from work today! My WONDERFUL son-in-law made me this shelf I have been wanting. I first saw one like it in a catalog and it cost way too much for me to spend. He is very talented and can build any thing, so I knew that if he just had time to do it I would have me a shelf. Rondell's husband built her one awhile back and I even asked her for the measurements (after I misplaced my catalog). She sent me the measurements and my SIL looked at the picture of Rondell's, along with her measurements, and made mine. I am so excited.....can't wait to paint it and sand it so it'll look old. I had planned all along to paint it black, but now that I have it I am not sure. I have SO MUCH black in the room. My walls are latte (looks like coffee with much cream). What do you think???? Should I go with black.....or red.....or mustard???? Too many decisions.

Sue,
What a wonderful surprise. I have caramel colored walls in the family room and a black shelf but Simon is making me a big one for the living room & that one will be red over black then distressed. I love your shelf, very talented sil you have. Have a great week.

What a nice son-in-law you have, Sue! I think you better keep him! :)

Personally, I think it would look great in red...it would "pop" with the color of your walls.

It turned out great Sue...wait till you get it all done and can decorate it, so much fun! I wouldn't go with mustard though but yet again just do what makes you happy:) I'm having trouble finding the right things to hang from the pegs...still don't have it right:(

What a terrific surprise Sue! All of those colors sound nice to me, so I'm just going to wait and see what you end up doing--please do show it to us when it's all done.

Sue,

How nice of your SIL! I love that shelf! I like the idea of black or red...I guess depending on what the color of the items will be that you will be putting on it!

Love it!

Sue, thank you for your kind words regarding Julianna. Every day is new... I'll see how things went today and then get the teacher involved again if necessary. The school has a very firm "no bully" policy and I'll implement it if necessary!

Oh, and your shelf is amazing! I'd go black...

i think since you have so much black, that you should use a dark, rustic red color. oh, and i have a new blog that i think you'll like. check it out sometime, its http://peasandluc.blogspot.com :]

Love your new shelf - it will be great on your wall holding lots of pretties. And of course, I'd pick red, my favorite color. But it will be beautiful whatever you decide - have fun with it. Cathy
