THRIFT STORE MAKEOVER

I had a church function last Saturday so I knew I would not be able to hit any yardsales. I happened to be near a thrift store earlier in the week and thought I better stop by and see if there might be something calling my name. I saw this adorable plaque that was once quite expensive but I really had no use for a "Madison". I do have a Maddie but for $1.48 I knew that this had to go home with me. After visiting several blogs I knew chalkboard paint would have to be used somewhere on this. I couldn't decide whether I should use it in my kitchen or bath. You already know that my guest bath is done in black and white so the decision was made. This project was so simple. I just covered the "Madison" part with chalkboard paint and used white spray paint on the rest. I had purchased some of the chalkboard pens at Michael's that someone told about and they are WONDERFUL! This is my finished project.
I made the picture from the side because the flash made a glare from the front.

This glare isn't as bad as a closeup but you can still see it. I want to get something cute to hang from the knobs on the plaque. For $1.48.....you can't be it!!!

I love it! Too cute! Now, did you happen to see a 3-6 arm chandelier at that thrift store? I am looking for one to redo for my kitchen. ;-) Actually, really I am. I am wondering if they will have any at the B'ham flea market week after next. I will check that out...

Great job on the redo.

Have a great evening!

Thanks Sue! I have been looking around. I am sure one will turn up sooner or later. Even if I have to buy a new one on sale and paint it. ;-) But I would much rather buy a vintage one.

Thanks so much!

Hi, I came over here from A Picture is Worth 1000 Words. I LOVE your chalkboard project!! That turned out cute, cute!! I have heard about those chalkboard pens and I am going to have to try them.
P.S. A couple under my favorites sell tassels that would be adorable hanging from one of the knobs. They are Bienvenue and Nesting Place...check them out.

What an adorable chalkboard sign! I've never heard of chalkboard pens but you got them at Michael's? I've got to go there tomorrow and find them. What a super project and the sign just looks so crisp and clean.
